Markets explained
Which basketball markets can I bet on?
These six are on most NBA and EuroLeague games, before tip-off and live. Big games usually add more player lines.
Handicap (point spread)
The favourite gives up a points start, such as −5.5, and the underdog gets the same start. Your team has to cover the line for the bet to win.
Total points
Over or under a line for the combined score of both teams. Fast-paced teams and weak defences push totals up.
Quarter and half betting
Winner, handicap or total for a single quarter or half. Each one settles as soon as that period ends.
Player points
Over or under a points line for one player. Check the injury report first, since minutes played drive the result.
Top scorer
Back the player you think scores the most points in the game. Prices are longer because several players can realistically top the chart.

How does a basketball handicap work?
The handicap is added to each team's final score. The favourite carries a minus line and has to win by more than that many points. The underdog carries the same plus line and covers if it wins, or loses by less.
Half-point lines like 5.5 always produce a winner. On a whole-number line, a result that lands exactly on it means your stake comes back.
Worked example
Team A −5.5 vs Team B +5.5
- A wins 110-103
- A won by 7, more than 5.5. The −5.5 bet wins.
- A wins 108-104
- A only won by 4. The +5.5 bet on B wins.
How do total points bets work?
Add both teams' scores together and compare the result with the line. With a line of 220.5, a 112-109 game makes 221 points, so over wins. A 105-110 game makes 215, so under wins. Overtime points count unless the market says it covers regulation time only.

Points come quickly in basketball, so live prices move all the time. These are the moments that shift them most.
Scoring runs
A 10-0 run can swing the handicap and match prices within a minute or two.
Foul trouble
A star on four or five fouls may sit, which changes both team and player markets.
Timeouts
Coaches often call one to stop a run, and the game can change after it.
The last two minutes
Fouls and free throws stretch the end of close games, which pushes totals up late.
