Markets explained

Which cricket markets can I bet on?

Most matches carry these six. Bigger fixtures, like IPL games and ICC knockouts, usually have extra fancy and player lines on top.

Match odds

Pick the team that wins. In a Test there's a third outcome, the draw. Check the playing XI before you bet, since one missing bowler can shift the price.

Toss winner

Which captain wins the coin toss. It's close to a 50/50 call, so keep the stake small and treat it as a bit of fun before the match.

Toss market guide

Session runs

Will the batting side be above or below a run line after a set over, such as the 6th or the 10th? These are often called fancy markets and are the busiest during live play.

Session betting guide

Top batter and top bowler

Back the player you think scores the most runs, or takes the most wickets, for their side in the match.

Player runs

An over or under line on how many runs one batter makes. Useful when you have a view on a single player's form.

Total sixes and boundaries

How many sixes or fours come in an innings or the whole match. Short boundaries and flat pitches push these lines up.

How it works

How does cricket betting work?

Goexch shows decimal odds. When you back a winning bet, your return is the stake multiplied by the price, and that return includes your stake. On an exchange you can also lay, which means betting that something won't happen. You then take the other side of someone's back bet.

During live play the price changes after almost every ball. Markets close for a few seconds around wickets and reviews, then reopen. Every bet settles on the official result, and rain-shortened games follow the DLS method.

How cricket bets settle

Worked example

₹500 on India at 1.80

Back
India win: you get ₹900 back, a profit of ₹400.
Lay
India lose: you keep the ₹500. India win: you pay ₹400.

Lay liability = stake × (odds − 1). The bet slip shows it before you confirm.

Formats

Which cricket format is easiest for beginners?

Start with T20. A match takes about three and a half hours, there's always a winner, and scoring follows patterns you pick up quickly. Tests are the hardest to read because weather and the draw both come into play. ODIs sit somewhere between the two.

Reading the game

What moves cricket odds during a match?

Wickets move the price the most. After that, it's the current run rate against the required rate. Before the first ball, the toss, the pitch report, the weather and the playing XI do most of the work.

  • Pitch wear

Spinners get more help as the surface breaks up, especially later in a Test.

  • Dew

Evening dew makes the ball wet and hard to grip, which usually suits the chasing side.

  • Overcast skies

Cloud cover helps swing bowling, so early wickets get more likely.

  • Late injuries

A key player dropping out after the team sheet can move match odds sharply.

  • Impact Player

In the IPL a substitute can change the batting or bowling depth mid-match.

  • Boundary size

Smaller grounds mean more sixes and higher totals.

Can I bet on IPL matches?

Yes. Every IPL match has pre-match and live markets. The same ID also works for the WPL, ICC events, bilateral series and overseas T20 leagues.

Ask support

How does a cricket session bet settle?

A session bet is on how many runs the batting side has by a set over. If you back Yes at 52 for the first six overs, the team needs 53 or more by the end of the 6th over for you to win.

Session betting explained

What happens to my bet if rain stops play?

Match odds settle on the official result, including DLS. If the match is abandoned with no result, match odds bets are void and the stake comes back. A session bet is void if its over is never bowled, unless the result was already decided.

Cricket settlement rules

Can I bet on cricket while the match is live?

Yes. Live markets stay open through the match and the odds update after almost every ball. They pause for a few seconds after a wicket, a boundary or a review, then reopen at the new price.

Live betting guide

Is the toss really 50/50?

For practical purposes, yes. That's why both sides are priced close to evens, and why no stat or timing trick gives you a lasting edge on it.

Which cricket competitions can I bet on?

The IPL and WPL, ICC tournaments, Test, ODI and T20I series, franchise leagues such as the Big Bash, SA20 and The Hundred, and selected domestic matches.
