Understanding sessions

How do No and Yes lines work?

A session asks one question: how many runs will the batting team have at the end of a set over? The market answers with two lines. In the example, No is 48 and Yes is 50.

A Yes bet wins if the team has 50 or more at the end of the 6th over. A No bet wins if it has fewer than 48. If the score lands on 48 or 49, both sides lose. That gap is how the market makes its margin.

The rate next to each line shows what you win for every ₹100 staked. At a rate of 100 it's even money: ₹100 on Yes wins ₹100. Your bet slip shows the exact win and liability before you confirm.

Both sides lose. 49 is in the gap between the No line (48) and the Yes line (50).

  1. Step 1 of 6

    Open the match

Log in, open Cricket and pick a live or upcoming match. Session markets sit with the other markets on the match page.

  2. Step 2 of 6

    Find the session

Each session is named by its over, such as 6 over runs or 10 over runs. Check which innings it's for.

  3. Step 3 of 6

Read the No and Yes lines

No wins if the team finishes below the No line. Yes wins if it reaches the Yes line. The rate next to each line shows what you win per ₹100.

  4. Step 4 of 6

    Make your own projection

Work out roughly where you think the score will be at the session's over. Bet only if your estimate is clearly outside the two lines.

  5. Step 5 of 6

Choose a side, stake and confirm

Tap No or Yes, enter your stake, check the win and liability in the bet slip and confirm. Lines move ball by ball, so check them once more first.

  6. Step 6 of 6

Follow it to the end of the over

The session settles on the team's score at the end of the stated over. You can leave it or bet the other side if the line moves.

Run-rate analysis

How do you project a session score?

Start with the current score and run rate, then adjust. Say India are 32 for 1 after 4 overs. That's 8 an over, so two more overs at the same pace would take them to about 48.

Then check whether the run rate is telling the truth. If 20 of those 32 runs came in one over, the other three overs went at 4 an over. Strip out the big over and the projection drops to around 40, well below a No line of 48.

Bet only when your projection is clearly outside both lines. If you land between them, or on one of them, there's no bet worth making.

Quick projection

Current runs + (overs left × expected run rate)

32 + (2 × 8) = 48 at the current rate
32 + (2 × 4) = 40 without the big over

Reading pressure

What moves a session line during the over?

The run rate tells you what has happened. These tell you what's likely next.

Wickets in hand

A team that has lost two quick wickets usually slows down to rebuild, even if the run rate looks healthy.

Who's bowling next

If the best bowlers still have overs left inside the session, scoring is likely to slow.

End of the powerplay

In a T20 the fielding restrictions end after 6 overs. Scoring often dips straight after, which matters for 10 over sessions.

Set batters

Two batters who have faced plenty of balls usually score faster than a new partnership.

Adjusting mid-match

Can you bet both sides of a session?

Yes, if the line moves far enough. Say you bet ₹100 on Yes 50 at rate 100. After two boundaries the market moves to No 55 and Yes 57, and you bet ₹100 on No 55.

Runs after 6 oversYes 50No 55Overall
Under 50−₹100+₹100₹0
50 to 54+₹100+₹100+₹200
55 or more+₹100−₹100₹0

You can no longer lose, and you win both bets if the score lands between your two lines. It only works when the line has moved past your first bet. If it moves against you, betting the other side locks in a loss instead.

Sessions never stop, so set your limits first

  • A new session opens every few overs. Decide how many you'll bet on before the match.
  • Keep the same stake on every session, however sure you feel.
  • If you lose a session, skip the next one rather than chasing it.

What is a session bet in cricket?

A session bet is a bet on how many runs the batting team will have at the end of a set over, such as 6, 10 or 15 overs. The market shows two lines. Bet Yes if you think the team reaches the higher line, or No if you think it finishes below the lower one. Extras count and super overs don't.

How do Yes and No work in session betting?

Every session shows two lines. With No 48 and Yes 50, a Yes bet wins if the team scores 50 or more by the end of the over, and a No bet wins if it scores fewer than 48. On 48 or 49, both sides lose.

What are fancy bets?

Fancy markets cover other events during an innings, such as a batter's runs, the score at the fall of the next wicket or a partnership total. They settle on the official scorecard.

Why do session lines jump suddenly?

A wicket or a run of boundaries changes where the score is likely to end up, so the lines reset at once. The market is often suspended for a few seconds while that happens.

Is session betting good for beginners?

It's harder than match odds. You need to follow the match closely and lines move every ball. Place a few match odds bets first, then try sessions with small stakes.

How to place a cricket bet

What happens to a session bet if the team is all out early?

If the team is all out or reaches its target before the session's over, the session settles on the team's final total for the innings.

What happens to a session bet if it rains?

If the session's over is never bowled, the session is void unless its result was already decided. If overs are reduced after the session opened, it's void and your stake comes back.
