Markets explained

Which IPL markets can I bet on?

Every IPL match carries these six, and the bigger games add extra fancy and player lines.

Match odds

Back the team you think wins. If the scores are tied, a Super Over decides it, and match odds settle on that result.

Toss winner

Which captain calls the coin right. It's close to a 50/50 call, so keep the stake small.

Toss market guide

Powerplay runs

Over or under a line for runs in the first six overs, when only two fielders can stand outside the circle.

Session runs

Over or under a run line at a set over, such as the 10th or 15th. The last few overs usually score fastest.

Session betting guide

Player runs and wickets

Lines for one batter's runs or one bowler's wickets, plus top batter and top bowler for each team.

Season outrights

Longer bets that settle at the end of the season: the champion, playoff teams, the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap.

How it works

How does IPL betting work?

Goexch shows decimal odds. If your back bet wins, you get your stake multiplied by the price, and that figure includes the stake. You can also lay a team, which means betting that it won't win.

Live markets close for a few seconds after a wicket, a boundary or a review, then reopen at the new price.

Worked example

Stake
₹500
Odds
1.90
Return
₹950

₹500 × 1.90 = ₹950, which is ₹450 profit plus your ₹500 back.

Tournament structure

How do the IPL playoffs work?

After the league stage, the top four play three knockout games before the final. The top two get two chances to reach the final, which is why finishing in the top two matters for playoff and outright bets.

  1. Game 1

    Qualifier 1

1st plays 2nd. The winner goes straight to the final.

  2. Game 2

    Eliminator

3rd plays 4th. The loser is out.

  3. Game 3

    Qualifier 2

The Qualifier 1 loser plays the Eliminator winner for the last final spot.

  4. Game 4

    Final

The two remaining teams play for the title.

Venues and dew

How do IPL venues and dew affect betting?

The ground changes what a good score looks like, and evening dew can change who's favourite between innings. These are general patterns, so check each match's pitch report too.

  • Small grounds

Short boundaries, like Bengaluru's, lead to more sixes and higher totals.

  • Slow, turning pitches

Chennai and other slower surfaces help spinners and keep scores down.

  • Evening dew

A wet ball is hard to grip, which usually helps the team batting second at night.

  • Afternoon games

Day matches have little dew, so batting first is often less of a disadvantage.

How does the Impact Player rule change IPL betting?

Each team can bring in a substitute from a named list during the match. Teams often use it to add an extra batter, so batting line-ups run deeper and totals tend to be higher than before the rule. Keep that in mind on powerplay, session and match total lines.

Before you bet

What should I check before an IPL bet?

  • Both playing XIs, including who's named as the Impact Player options
  • Who won the toss and what they chose
  • The pitch report and the ground's recent scores
  • The weather forecast, including any rain
  • Whether key overseas players are available

What happens to IPL bets if it rains?

Match odds follow the official result, including DLS. If the match is abandoned with no result, match odds bets are void and your stake comes back. Session and player bets only stand if the overs they cover were bowled, unless the result was already decided.

Ask support

Can I bet on IPL matches live?

Yes. Every IPL match has live markets that update after almost every ball. They pause for a few seconds after wickets, boundaries and reviews, then reopen at the new price.

Live betting guide

Which IPL market is best for beginners?

Match odds. You only need a view on who wins, and it's the easiest market to follow. Powerplay and session markets make more sense once you're used to how T20 scoring builds.

How are IPL winnings worked out?

Multiply your stake by the decimal odds. A ₹500 back bet at 1.90 returns ₹950 if it wins, which is ₹450 profit plus your stake.

What are the Orange Cap and Purple Cap markets?

Season-long bets on the player who finishes the IPL with the most runs (Orange Cap) or the most wickets (Purple Cap). They settle after the final.

Does my Goexch ID still work after the IPL ends?

Yes. The same ID covers internationals, the WPL, other T20 leagues, other sports and the live casino, all year round.

What happens to my bet if an IPL match is tied?

A tie goes to a Super Over, and match odds settle on the team that wins it. Session, powerplay and player markets settle on the main match only, so Super Over runs don't count for them.
