The basics

What is online betting?

Online betting is staking money on the outcome of a sports event or casino game through a website or app. Every bet has the same parts. The event is the match or game. The market is the question you're answering, such as who wins. Your selection is your answer, your stake is the amount you put on it, and the odds decide what you get back if you're right.

On Goexch, one ID holds a single balance for sports, the live casino and card games. You open it by messaging us on WhatsApp instead of filling in a sign-up form. See how that works.

Odds

How do betting odds work?

Goexch uses decimal odds. Multiply your stake by the odds to get your total return, stake included. ₹100 at 2.50 returns ₹250, a profit of ₹150. ₹100 at 1.40 returns ₹140, a profit of ₹40. Lower odds mean the outcome is more likely and pays less.

Odds also tell you how likely the market thinks an outcome is. Divide 1 by the odds: 2.50 implies 40%, and 1.40 implies about 71%.

Add the implied chances for every outcome in a market and you'll get more than 100%. In a two-way market where both sides are 1.90, each implies 52.6%, for a total of about 105%. That extra 5% is the margin, and it's why betting costs money over time. The margin guide goes into more detail.

Start with the simplest market and add others once you understand how they settle.

Back and layBetting for or against an outcome against other players on an exchangeBack first, then lay

Session, fancy, toss and in-play markets each have their own guide in betting guides.

Exchange betting

What is the difference between back and lay?

Backing is betting that an outcome will happen. Laying is betting that it won't. On an exchange you're matched with another player who takes the opposite side, so when you lay, you pay their winnings if the outcome happens.

Back ₹100 at 2.50

  • If it happens +₹150
  • If it doesn't −₹100

Lay ₹100 at 2.50

  • If it happens −₹150
  • If it doesn't +₹100

Your lay liability is stake × (odds − 1). At high odds it can be many times your stake, so check it before you confirm.

Payments

How does money move in and out?

To deposit, log in, open Wallet, choose Deposit and pay by UPI or bank transfer. Most deposits reach your balance within a few minutes. The minimum and maximum for each method are shown in the Wallet.

To withdraw, open Wallet, choose Withdraw and enter a bank or UPI account in your own name. Your first withdrawal may need a KYC check, and most withdrawals are processed within a few hours.

Bankroll

How much should you bet?

Set aside a bankroll: an amount you can afford to lose that's kept apart from rent, bills and savings. Keep each bet to between 1% and 5% of it. With ₹2,000, that means stakes of ₹20 to ₹100.

Decide in advance how much you're willing to lose in a day or a week, and stop when you reach it. Don't raise your stakes to win back what you've lost. Chasing losses is how a small bankroll disappears in one evening.

  • Only deposit through the Wallet in your account. Don't send money to a personal bank account or UPI ID because someone in a chat asked you to.

How does online betting work?

Online betting means staking money on the result of a sports event or casino game through a website or app. You pick a market, such as the match winner, choose a selection and enter a stake. If your selection wins, you get back your stake multiplied by the decimal odds. On an exchange like Goexch you can also lay, which means betting that something won't happen.

How do decimal odds work?

Decimal odds show your total return for each ₹1 you stake, including the stake. A ₹100 bet at 2.50 returns ₹250 if it wins, which is ₹150 profit. To see the chance the odds imply, divide 1 by the odds: 2.50 works out to 40%.

What is the best bet for a beginner?

A match winner bet with a small stake. There's one question to answer, the odds are easy to read, and it settles on the official result.

How much should I bet?

Keep each bet to between 1% and 5% of your bankroll. With ₹2,000 set aside, that's ₹20 to ₹100 a bet. Stop when the bankroll is gone, and don't raise your stakes to win back losses.

What is the difference between back and lay?

Backing is betting that an outcome will happen. Laying is betting that it won't. When you lay, you take the other side of someone's back bet, so if the outcome happens you pay their winnings.

How do deposits and withdrawals work on Goexch?

Deposit through the Wallet by UPI or bank transfer. To withdraw, open Wallet, choose Withdraw and enter a bank or UPI account in your own name. Your first withdrawal may need a KYC check, and most are processed within a few hours.

How to withdraw

Is online betting legal in India?

It depends on where you live. Rules differ between states, and a central law passed in 2025 changed the rules for real-money online gaming. Check the law that applies to you before you play. You must be 18 or older.
