Markets explained
Markets on single Tests, on whole series, and on the race to the final.
Back either team or the draw. The draw price shortens as time runs out or rain takes overs away.
Who wins the whole series, or whether it's drawn. It settles after the last Test of the series.
The exact result, such as 2-1 or 1-1. Harder to call, so the prices are longer.
Which team scores more in its first innings. It settles once both first innings are complete.
For one innings, one Test or the whole series. Session runs markets are also open during play.
Outrights on the two teams that top the table, and on the team that lifts the mace.
How it works
Goexch shows decimal odds. If your back bet wins, you get your stake multiplied by the price, stake included. The difference from white-ball cricket is the draw: Test match odds have three outcomes, and the draw is often a real contender.
Session and innings markets settle during the match. Match odds wait until the Test ends, which can take up to five days.
Worked example
A bet on the draw
₹1,000 × 3.40 = ₹3,400 if the Test is drawn, which is ₹2,400 profit plus your stake.
Points system
Over a two-year cycle, each of the nine teams plays six series: three at home and three away. A series can be anything from two to five Tests.
Because teams play different numbers of Tests, the table ranks them by the percentage of available points they've won, not by total points. Slow over rates can cost points too. The top two at the end of the cycle meet in the final.
| Result | Points per Test |
|---|---|
| Win | 12 |
| Tie | 6 |
| Draw | 4 |
| Loss | 0 |
The final
The top two teams play a single Test at a neutral ground, so neither side has home advantage. A reserve day makes up time lost to weather. If the final still ends in a draw or a tie, the two teams share the title.
| Cycle | Result | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 to 2021 | New Zealand beat India | Southampton |
| 2021 to 2023 | Australia beat India | The Oval, London |
| 2023 to 2025 | South Africa beat Australia | Lord's, London |
In-play
Test prices move more slowly than T20 prices, but over five days they can travel a long way. These are the things that move them most.
Wickets
Nothing moves a Test price more. A collapse can swing a match within a session.
Run rate against time
A team chasing a win needs runs quickly enough to bowl the other side out in time.
Rain and bad light
Every session lost pushes the draw price shorter.
Pitch wear
Days four and five usually help spinners as the surface cracks and turns.
Tests aren't shortened with DLS. Overs lost to rain are simply gone, which leaves less time to force a result and makes a draw more likely. A rain-hit Test that ends without a winner is a draw, and bets on the draw win. Match odds bets are only void if the match is abandoned with no result.
Test match settlement rulesSide by side
Test markets settle over very different time spans, from one session to a two-year cycle.

| Match odds | When the Test ends, up to five days | Wickets, time left, weather | Most bettors |
